Potted Flower Care – Caring for Your Poco Pots

Ask anyone, and one of the hardest things about being an adult (aside from paying bills, taxes and juggling multiple responsibilities) is trying to keep pot plants alive. Whether it’s a temperamental succulent that seems hell bent on deteriorating no matter what you do for it, or a fiddle leaf fig that’s quickly losing its leaves, potted flower care can end up becoming more of a hassle than a relaxing past time – which is the whole point of having plants, right?

Potted flower care: Looking after your indoor flowers

1. Choose the right plant

Unless you’ve already been gifted a flowerpot or plant, some consideration should be taken when it comes to picking the right plant for your place. If you plan on keeping your plants in an apartment, doing some homework beforehand can save you a lot of time, money and stress in the long run. No matter how much you angle them towards the sun, some plants are just not suited to indoor conditions and will not thrive in shady conditions. If you’re looking to adorn your apartment with a low maintenance indoor plant that doesn’t require much thought, or gift a friend, a posy plant is a terrific option.

2. Avoid direct sunlight

Posy plants aren’t the biggest fans of the sun, so it’s best to position them somewhere without direct sunlight or a draught. They should also be away from the direct flow of an air conditioner or heater, as any big change in temperature can cause them to wilt.

3. Don’t water too much

Though it might be tempting to water your posies a lot, overwatering is just as bad as watering too little. It’s recommended that you change the water every one to two days (if they’re in a vase) or water them every two days if they’re flowers in a pot.

4. Remove leaves and trim stems

When it comes to caring for potted flowers, it’s worth recutting the stems every couple of days to ensure they get a good drink of water. Removing any debris from the water will also help them last, as it stops bacteria from growing.

5. Simply enjoy

And that’s about it! Posy flowers are incredibly low maintenance, so not much care is needed to keep them alive and thriving.
